C1 (Atlas) Right Roll (Laterality)
C1 Right Roll - subluxation of the Atlas. Note the lateral right shift of the head that

What you will see clinically with a C1 Right Roll:
- Sub-occipital muscles, left side are stretched
- Sub-occipital muscles, right side are contracted
Sub-occipital muscles include: Small neck muscles (rectus capitus posterior minor and major, oblique capitis superior and inferior), sternocleidomastoid, levator scapula, trapezius and scalenes (mostly the anterior scalene).
Nasium (open mouth) X-ray
The above weight bearing (standing) X-ray was taken of a 11 year old girl, demonstrating a C1 Right Roll. The lateral masses of the Atlas are labeled (B) and (A), the odontoid process is labeled (C).
