Embryogenesis - Rothbarts Foot vs PreClinical Clubfoot Deformity
Frame 1 - Both the calcaneus and talus are in Supinatus. If the embryological development of the foot stops at this stage, it is diagnosed as a PreClinical Clubfoot Deformity.
Frame 2 - The calcaneus has fully unwound (e.g., plantargrade) and with it, the lateral column of the foot. The talus is still in supinatus.
Frame 3 - The talus is unwinding and with it the embryological medial column of the foot (part of the navicular, medial cuneiform, 1st metatarsal, proximal phalanx and hallux). If the embryological development of the foot stops at this stage, it is diagnosed as a Rothbarts Foot.
Frame 4 - The talus has completed its ontogenetic development. The foot is plantargrade.
