Stair Analysis – Rothbarts Foot
Dramatic improvement in foot, knee, hip and arm motion is observed when the proprioceptive signal is used vs the dramatic deterioration in foot, knee, hip and arm motion when the proprioceptive signal is not used. When the proprioceptive signal is not used (See FigA.), as the right foot is placed further down the stairs, note the:
left subtalar pronation (should be supinating)
left knee adduction
exaggerated hip transverse plane rotations
increase lateral arm swing
