A Kalix Implant was used to decrease the subtalar joint hyperpronation resulting from a PreClinical Clubfoot Deformity.
Left Foot (Kalix STJ Implant):
The hyperpronation pattern at heel contact was definitely decreased
However a dramatic lateral instability at midstance (seen as a lateral left lurch) is due to the implant
Right Foot (no STJ implant):
The hyperpronation pattern seen at heel contact is consistent with the diagnosis of a PreClinical Clubfoot Deformity
Note the motion in the subtalar joint at midstance (e.g., no lateral right lurch). This is the motion one expects to see in the PreClinical Clubfoot Deformity. That is, the subtalar motion has not been artificially distorted with an implant.
STJ implants are not recommended when the patient has a PreClinical Clubfoot Deformity.
