Mixed Postural Distortional Pattern

The patient's postural distortion pattern was diagnosed as being the result of a:
  • PreClinical Clubfoot Deformity

At the time of the initial examination, a proprioceptive stimulation applied to observe the postural shift.

Procedure:
  • The first photo was taken without a proprioceptive stimulation
  • The second photo was taken with a proprioceptive stimulation underneath the feet

Results:

  • Improvement (leveling) in the position of the innominates (backward, more vertical alignment)
  • No improvement was noted in the forward head position

Discussion:

This is a common finding in the mixed postural distortional patterns.  (In an adolescent, before the primary teeth have erupted, a forward head position can result in a Class II Malocclusion.)

Therapy Advised:
  • Rothbart Proprioceptive Therapy to stabilize the PreClinical Clubfoot Deformity
  • Dental Intervention if Rothbart Proprioceptive Therapy is unable to reverse the forward head position

View a postural photo taken immediately before Rothbart Proprioceptive Therapy was initiated and one immediately after therapy was completed (See Pre vs Post Postural Photos).
