If the talar head completes its ontogenetic (torsional) development, the hallux rests on the ground when the subtalar joint is placed in its anatomical neutral (joint congruity) position (See Animation Left).
If the talar head does not complete its ontogenetic development (remains in supinatus), the hallux does not rest on the ground (e.g., structurally elevated and inverted) when the subtalar joint is placed in its anatomical neutral (joint congruity) position (See Animation Right).
