Innominate (Hip) Rotations

In postural distortional patterns, clinically I see both an anteriorly and posteriorly rotated innominate bone (See Diagram below).

Innominate Positions.  Neutral, Anterior, Posterior

Neutral Position:
  • The posterior superior iliac spine and anterior superior iliac spine are parallel to (in line with) one another

Anteriorly Rotated Innominate (frequently resulting from Rothbarts Foot):
  • The posterior superior iliac spine is cephalad (superior) to the anterior superior iliac spine

Posteriorly Rotated Innominate (frequently resulting from the PreClinical Clubfoot Deformity):
  • The posterior superior iliac spine is caudal (inferior) to the anterior superior iliac spine
