Pelvic Syndromes:  Entrapment of the Sciatic and Pudendal Nerves

Anterior rotation of the innominate can produce symptoms that micmic sciatica  (Sciatica is pain radiating from the buttocks, down to the foot, caused by a herniated disk or vertebral stenosis)

1.  Anterior rotation of the innominate, can 'jam the Sciatic Nerve against the greater sciatic notch (See Figure above).  If severe enough, this can produce symptoms that mimic Sciatica (Piriformis Syndrome).

2. Anterior rotation of the sacrum can place the Piriformis Muscle on a stretch while concurrently tightening the Sacrospinous Ligament.  This produce symptoms that mimic severe Sciatica (Pudendal Syndrome).

My
research in clarifying the link between the position of the innominates and sacrum and the development of sciatica like symptoms was instrumental in the development of a therapy that, in many cases, permanently eliminates sciatic pain without the use of drugs or surgery.  This therapy is called Rothbart Proprioceptive Therapy.
