Unstable or Worn Out Shoes Impact on Rothbart Proprioceptive Therapy

Above Shoes are one year old. The midsoles are medially compressed.  When a proprioceptive stimulation is used in these shoes, the stimulation is distorted. The result is demonstrated above (increased foot twist).

Unstable Shoes
can distort the proprioceptive stimulation, which in turn, can increase the foot twist (See Animation above)

Postural Implications:

Shoes with built-in arch supports
will distort the proprioceptive stimulation generated from the proprioceptive insole, which in turn, will interfere with the postural shift.
Structurally stable shoes (without built-in arch supports) will not distort the proprioceptive stimulation generated from the proprioceptive insole, which in turn, will not interfere with the postural shift
