Anterior Rotation of the Innominates can result in a Short Leg Syndrome

Short Leg Syndrome resulting from the anterior rotation of the innominates.  In the above example the right innominate is more anteriorly rotated (compared to the left innominate) resulting in a short right leg (Rothbart, 2006).

Discussion:

A Short Leg Syndrome can be the result of an Ascending Postural Distortional Pattern (coming from the feet) or can be the result of a Descending Postural Distortional Pattern (coming from the cranium).

If the Short Leg Syndrome is the result of an Ascending Pattern:
  • the short leg is always on the same side as the more anteriorly rotated innominate
  • which is always on the same side as the more pronated foot
